Chinese Language
ICB’s Chinese Studies is a supporting program that helps international students from different departments to develop the Chinese language skills and Chinese culture awareness. The Chinese Studies Program offers language and culture courses under its own auspices to round out the available offerings.
ICB has three levels of Chinese language programs, which include elementary, intermediary and advanced Chinese programs. The Programs provided by the College are aimed at improving the learners communicative skills in Chinese, deepening their understanding of Chinese history, culture and China's status quo, and enabling them to become personnel of good language proficiency and high competitiveness.
The Elementary Level: for beginners who have never learned Chinese or have a vocabulary of less than 300.
The Intermediate Level: for foreigners who have a vocabulary of 500 but can not express themselves.
The Advanced Level: for foreigners who have a vocabulary of 900 and can express themselves to some extent but with poor pronunciation and grammar.
According to the academic calendar of CAU, one academic year contains two terms, and there are not less than 16 weeks in each term, 18-26 teaching hours per week.

Short-term Chinese Training
Training Levels:
Short-term Chinese training is designed for oversea students of various Chinese proficiency and purposes. It emphasizes on such communicative skills as Chinese speaking and listening. Focused communicative practice occurs in simulated life situations, characteristic of vividness and delightfulness.
Training Hours:
Short-term Chinese Training lasts less than 6 teaching weeks, 24 teaching hours per week, 4-6 hours a day from Monday to Friday.

Please also note that a special short-term intensive Chinese training scheme is also available, which aims to meet the needs of learners from abroad with special time schedule. Syllabus and textbooks are learner-oriented with flexible schedule and international standards to guarantee high quality.
History, Arts and Culture
The courses include Chinese Language, Chinese Literature, Linguistic Studies, Chinese Philosophy, Chinese History, Chinese Business and Economics, etc. Our instructors have a broad range of experiences, lecturing and researching both internationally and domestically.
The Chinese culture includes ideolog ethics,moral political and religious ideas, economic thoughts and wealth ideas, customs, science and technology, education, literature and arts,etc. The teaching contents involves the contents as follows, the Chinese Culture's Formation and Development, the Prehistoric Culture, the culture and history of the Xia, the Shang and the Western Zhou Dynasties, the Spring and the Autumn Period, the Warring States Period, the Qin and the Han Dynasties, the Wei and the Jin, the Northern and the Southern Dynasties, the Sui and Tang Dynasties, the Song, Liao, Xia, Jin and Yuan Dynasties, and the Ming and the Qing Dynasties.
To meet the new trends in disciplinary development, the changing needs of the international recruitment market, and the changed profile of overseas students, ICB is implementing a reform program on its educational modes, course content and course management systems.
